For Dutch people, being able to cycle safely through the city is almost taken for granted. In the US, cyclists’ rights are a very different matter.

Join us for a Bicyclists' Safety Benefit at the Center for Documentary Studies auditorium (Rm B007) for a conversation with Ann Groninger, North Carolina’s BikeLaw attorney, who has spent years representing cyclists. Ann will walk us through the essentials: what your rights are on the road, what the law actually says, and the steps to take if you are ever hit. Ann's Presentation will be followed by a screening of documentary film, selected by Bike Durham Board Member Marc Maximov, Changing Lanes (Wolf, 2025).

Join us at the Ben May Main Library for a screening of Changing Lanes (2025), available through Kanopy. Watch the documentary and explore its themes through an anthropological perspective.

The Lawrence Coalition for Safe Streets, in partnership with the Lawrence Public Library, will host a screening of the documentary Changing Lanes on August 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium.

See the riveting and urgent documentary capturing New York City democracy at street level. The film will be followed by a Q&A with panelists and moderator to be announced.

Good Trouble Conversations and The Denver Bicycle Lobby present a screening of Changing Lanes at Regis University.

The screening will be followed by a discussion about street safety, transportation, and public space in New York City with the film’s director Ben Wolf, NY State Assemblymember Emily Gallagher, organizers Bronwyn Breitner and Kevin LaCherra, and additional guests.

The dedication of many individuals to change the mindset of a city designed for the primacy of car and truck traffic and toward a city with safer streets designed for sharing the roadways and encouraging broader transportation choice is a primary focus of the film. The event will conclude with a moderated panel discussion afterwards that will include the film director and an architect-activist featured in the film.

Featuring David Byrne and Janette Sadik-Khan, the new documentary Changing Lanes investigates why our streets are designed the way they are, and what it will take to make them safer and more livable.
